What is the Virtual Try On System?
If you’re shopping for jewellery on your mobile device or tablet like most of us are, you may have noticed the ‘TRY ME ON’ button located on selected product image pages. We're implementing it as quickly as we can and already have it available for many of our ring collections such as the Utopia, Bold, Trilogy, Tutti, Mahtava, Magic and Earth Stone Collections.
Desiderate's ground breaking new Virtual Try On system will change the way you shop! You can actually see how it looks, on you, just like trying it on in a shop, amazing, right?
Our new Virtual Try-On system uses the camera technology on your device to capture a real-time image of how a product will suit you when it’s being worn. This is a game changer and I'm super excited to be one of the first to offer it to you. Why buy jewellery from another online store when you can virtually try our pieces on?
Why should I use the Virtual Try-On option?
Our Virtual Try On tool is perfect for seeing if the size and style of a particular product are going to be flattering for you – or to envision how a gift will look in person when it’s being worn.
You’ll also be presented with an image of the ring on a virtual hand, which will provide a good visual indication of what it will look like on a human hand; bearing in mind that everybody brings a unique and special ‘look’ to the table.
All you need to do is follow the instructions given, and you’ll be well on your way to virtually trying on some of your favourite pieces from the Desiderate sterling silver collection. Sometimes it can seem a little fiddly, but move your hand a little and in no time you'll be virtually trying on like a pro! Just think, you can try every style, stone and colour without a shop assistant getting bored.
It’s a great way of getting some peace of mind, to know that what you’re looking at on a screen will look just as beautiful in person! We know you’ll love your new Desiderate jewellery pieces, but we want you to see them for yourself and ‘try before you buy’ – virtually!
Tip's for using Desiderates Virtual Try On technology:
- Select the ring you want to try on
- Tap the 'Try Me On' button
- Select 'Allow' the device to use your camera
- Use the drop down menu to choose which finger you'd like to try it on
- Make sure the camera is facing your hand and not in selfy mode - Use the button with the image of a camera and and arrow to change the camera view
- Move your hand or the camera a little until you get it sitting how you want
How can I check my size?
We’ve put together an assortment of guides to help you feel confident in selecting the right sized product for your purchase.
Our ultra-handy Ring Sizer Tool takes the guesswork out of finding your correct ring size and is an accurate way to find out what size would best suit your finger/s.
Hot tip: Make sure you measure the finger on the correct hand where your piece will be worn. Did you know that it is very common for one hand to be larger in size compared to the other? Generally this is the dominant hand, so if you're right handed your right hand will probably be larger.
We use the internationally accepted numerical ring sizing and have a chart with measurements and comparisons here: Ring Size Chart You can also find the size guide at the bottom of every page on the website.

What if I order an incorrect size?
If you’ve ordered a sterling silver jewellery piece that doesn’t quite fit, don’t panic! Simply get in touch with our customer service team, so that we can organise to swap it over for you. We offer exchanges or store credit for incorrect size choices, you’ll just need to cover the postage & you’ll have your beautiful piece of jewellery back with you in no time.
Please note: Earrings are exempt from this policy - Australian Hygiene Laws prohibit returns or exchanges on pierced earrings for hygienic purposes.
